Face Painting and Business Cards

We have this event here in town that happens once/twice a month called Sundays in the Park. It’s a free event hosted by the city’s Parks and Recreation department.

The event usually features free food, music, free games, a bouncy house, lots of different activities for the whole family, and myself, the face painter.

The last Sunday Sundown I did, I hardly painted any faces. This one started out kinda slow but while I was supposed to pack it in by 6 PM, I painted my last face at 6:45!

I had soooooooooooooo many people ask me for business cards and I felt horrible that I didn’t have any! I have a stack of them on my desk here at home since they feature my old logo, designer name, and outdated contact info, I generally don’t give them out. I ended up having to write my info out on slips of paper (soooooo not professional!).

I made new business cards my top priority. Seriously, like, as soon as I got home, I set to work on em and I’m quite pleased with what I just sent to the printer! I got new business cards with an updated logo and info as well as label stickers. I can’t wait to start packaging my jewelry and what not in a much more professional manner.

I ended up paying the expedited shipping so I could get them before the Belmont Festival next weekend. I’m hoping to do some serious networking once I get my cards.

Eventually, I’d like to order postcards too, since I can write on them. I’ve sent out applications for a number of local craft fairs so maybe, depending on whether I get accepted into them or not, and whether they’re successful or not, I can start ordering postcards too.

I’m really hoping, once I get myself looking more professional that I can start doing more freelance work. I’m really hoping to realize my dream of working solely for myself.

About bonefishdesigns

I hold a BFA in printmaking and drawing from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV. Drawing and illustration have always been my passion and I make my living teaching people how to draw and paint. Currently, in addition to my work as a lifeguard, swim instructor and an art teacher, I'm also an apprentice to a tattoo artist and have done quite a bit of flash as well. I started this blog more as a way for me to keep track of my thoughts and inspiration, resources and references but I'm more than happy to welcome you to it with open arms.
